We won the pitch for developing the new Store Concept and Store Design for Nickelson. Their first new store opens in Amsterdam and will be their a new Flagship store. Nickelson is an international operating fashion brand with a large number of selling points and online sales. Their focus is to have a more visible brand identity in retail environments. Opening Flagship stores and shop in shops in key locations across Europe will strengthen their multi-channel strategy. We are working closely with the Nickelson Design Team and Retail Manager.

For this multi-brand jeans store we where inspired by French artist Yves Klein. He developed IKB (International Klein Blue), a deep blue color which has a strong visual impact because its heavy reliance on ultramarine! To give the customer a true denim experience we created a 20 meter long cupboard colored in IKB filled with jeans. This large aluminum structure has two library stairs and presentation bars for hanging jeans. In the middle of the store stands a six meter long wooden Denim Bar. This is the place where the customers can get serviced and inspired by their passionated staff. Behind this wooden counter, a large green showcase displays all sorts of jeans accessories and vintage props. The showcase also functions as storage and coffee counter. Hanging labels help sign the different brands throughout the store.

Concept and Design of the Facility Exhibition. During the Facility Exhibition in the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch, Ahrend introduced its new line of furniture Ahrend Team_Up (designed by Marck Haans). Due to its modular structure Team_Up facilitates all types of Smart Working. Also Ahrend Unit (designed by Paul Linse) was introduced at the Facility Exhibition. This product complements the successful Soft Seating range of Ahrend. VEVS was responsabel for the Concept / Design for the Ahrend Exhibition Stand and worked closely with Ahrend Marketing and Designteam.

Concept and Design of the National Education Exhibition (NOT). Learning, playing and working together are important principles for the ‘new’ way of learning. Buildings and spaces are increasingly used multifunctional. Ahrend introduces a large number of furniture lines specially made for use in Primary Education, including an extensive range of chair series. Be inspired by the latest products and developments which makes the life of every education professional easier and more efficient.

The Dutch Centre (DC) is a cultural institute to promote and develop Dutch culture and a wide variety of the arts for the enjoyment of current and future generations. The DC is housed in the monumental church building at Austin Friars, a spiritual and cultural beacon in the City of London since 1550. The DC will promote a wide variety of concerts and other live performances, film series and exhibitions by Dutch designers and artists. It will continue to host the Netherlands City Lunches, as well as introducing a new series of lectures and debates about current challenges facing Dutch, British and international audiences alike. Both the hall and the library on the lower level and the church hall on the upper level will serve as a venue for receptions, events and parties and as a centre for meetings and conferences for the business community, the Royal Netherlands Embassy and clubs and associations.

VEVS restyled Michelin star restaurant ‘Aan de Poel’ in Amstelveen and created a chic and cosmopolitan atmosphere. High quality materials are used and a number of interior elements are added.

In the entrance area a round bar invites you to the restaurant. The bar has a marblestone top with a brass finish and the front side is illuminated and covered with thick folded felt. The restaurant is divided by a 20 meters long wall that separates the working area from the bar and dining area. The wall also integrates the wine cabinets, wardrobe, entrance doors, the wine room and has a large opening towards the kitchen. Guests can watch the chefs working when they create the fresh, inspired and balanced dishes. The wall is cladded with a contemporary unexpected material; a woven floor covering in a random pattern of 4 natural colour shades. Because of the texture of the woven tiles, the light is captured beautifully and makes the wall shine. It gives the lobby, bar area and restaurant a warm and chic atmosphere and a better acoustic quality. Our client wanted to preserve a number of characteristic features such as their famous chandeliers.

The fantastic view on the lake and the chic modern style interior creates a great atmosphere to have a lunch, dinner or a drink.

When multibrand jeans store De Rode Winkel asked us to design their new store concept in Nieuwegein, the briefing was simple: We want to  give the customer a true denim experience and service with a collection of 50 square meters of jeans. De Rode Winkel is a chain of nine stores and is specialized in premium jeans brands. Their high service makes them different from others similar retailers. Here they can tell you all about denim and why you should invest in a really good pair. It was also important to design a more fashionable store than a standard jeans store. We created an intimate and almost domestic atmosphere for the customer without losing the denim focus. The space is divided in three different shopping areas, each with its own character and collection.

The entrance area displays the men’s collection and feels like a men’s chamber with oak parquet flooring and walls covered in sturdy black steel paneling. The chamber is furnished with black wooden tables, metallic clothing racks and a leather upholstery cash desk. All the premium brands are signed in brass panels hanging on the walls behind the cash desk.

In the middle of the store a Denim Lab is created which focusses on premium jeans brands. This area has four large freestanding white clothing cabinets with white shelves and brackets. You feel surrounded by blue walls of denim like in a library. In contrast to the men’s area the parquet floor is made of black steel and the walls are covered with fabric. In the middle of this room a wooden Denim Bar with drawers display the Vintage Jeans collection and accessories. This is the heart of the store where the customer can get serviced on this high-end product and can get a nice cup of coffee.

The woman’s collection is in the back of the store and this area looks more like a garden room. The white wooden tables, big mirrors, champagne coloured clothing racks and light oak wooden paneling give this area a lighter and warmer ambiance. Large mirror doors conceal the fitting rooms and act like big windows looking out.

Jeans store De Rode Winkel / Amersfoort

For the Dutch linoleum flooring company Forbo, we designed their Exhibition Stand at Design District 2012. Design District, formally known as 100% Design, is the Dutch trade event for interior design. The 10th edition of the event toke place in the beautiful Taets buildings in Zaandam. We were responsible for the Concept / Design for the Exhibition Stand and worked closely with the communication and marketing department of Forbo. The stand focusses on the natural raw materials used in the production of their linoleum product and the inspiration for the collection. In three interactive viewers the inspiration and production of the collection is shown. Furthermore VEVS was responsible for all the graphics, invitations, online trailer, online banners and art-direction of the interactives. Interactives and trailer are made in collaboration with video artist Lieneke Lokhoff.

terStal is a retail chain with over 200 stores spread over the Netherlands, outside the metropolitan areas. terStal stands for affordable family fashion. Simple, refreshing, no-nonsense and accessible are the main brand values of the fashion chain. With the brand’s new marketing strategy the logo, the advertisements and the store have been redesigned. VEVS Interior Design is responsible for the new store concept and has worked closely with the communication and marketing department of terStal. The new shopping environment reflects their brand identity. It is a fresh and clear designed store with a simple modular shopping furniture.

The base of the store is formed by the neutral gray colored resin floor and walls. The metal midshops are light gray. The presentation tables, the wall behind the cashdesk, fitting rooms and the high wall cabinets are made in light colored wood. The inside of the cabinets and shelves are white. Fresh colored accents are made by the red cashdesk, orange action baskets and green clothing racks.

The density of goods in the store is high and demands flexible interior components. By using high wall cabinets and presentation tables the density of goods can be varied more. The zoning is supported with clear signage. The midshops are flexible and offer multiple visual merchandising presentation opportunities. The wall cabinets are also flexible is use for clothing, accessories and underwear. The new lighting is based on three types of light; wallwashers, spot lighting and ambient lighting. The new lighting is achieved by one type of adjustable spotlight which gives the store a dynamic and clear look. All exposed interior components are brought together in a Toolkit.
